Re-appointment of James Menlove as Clerk of the Board of Supervisors
Background Information
On June 7, 2022, the Gila County Board of Supervisors appointed James Menlove, County Manager, to serve as Interim Clerk of the Board of Supervisors until August 31, 2022.
Mr. Menlove stated at the time that there were two other counties, Apache and Graham, whose County Manager is also serving in the capacity of Clerk of the Board.
Evaluation
Arizona Revised Statutes §§ 11-401 and 11-241, state that the Clerk of the Board is an appointed officer of the County, and the Board of Supervisors shall appoint a Clerk of the Board.
Conclusion
Per A.R.S. §§ 11-401 and 11-241, the Clerk of the Board is an appointed officer of the County and the Board of Supervisors shall appoint a Clerk of the Board.
Recommendation
It is recommended that James Menlove, County Manager, be re-appointed as the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.
