Approval of Library Service Agreements for Isabelle Hunt Memorial (Pine) and Miami public libraries for FY 2023.

Background Information

The Gila County Library District contracts annually with the seven public libraries to cooperate in the provision of library services to the citizens of the District. These Library Service Agreements serve as contracts for facilitating funding and resource sharing. Currently, we have two additional Library Service Agreements returned. The Globe, Payson, Tonto Basin, and Young Library Service Agreements were passed during the July 19, 2022 Board of Supervisors meeting.

For FY 2023, the Hayden Public Library will continue to be operated as a branch of the Gila County Library District.

Evaluation

Library funding is based on the aggregate percentages of the four library service measures, from the baseline FY12, along with a base amount for each of the community libraries. This year's funding totals are as follows:

Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library - $19,300
Miami Memorial Public Library - $58,100

The Library District will distribute these amounts in two installments -- the first in November 2022 and the second in May 2023, in accordance with the provisions of the agreements.

Conclusion

Approval of the FY 2023 Library Service Agreements will facilitate funding and resource sharing with the affiliate libraries of the Gila County Library District.

Recommendation

The Gila County District Librarian recommends approval of the FY 2023 Library Service Agreements between the Gila County Library District and the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Public Library Board and the Town of Miami.
