Request/Subject

Adoption of Resolution No. 21-07-02 for the installation of regulatory signage at the intersection of S. El Camino and S. Obscure Way located in Inspiration Townsite of Claypool in Gila County.

Background Information

Public Works received numerous requests from homeowners in the area to assess the signage at the intersection and see if anything could be done to improve the safety of the intersection.

Evaluation

The County Engineer along with engineering staff assessed the intersection for safety. Due to limited sight visibility of the intersection, staff feels it necessary that traffic approaching S. El Camino from S. Obscure Way be required to stop at the intersection.

Conclusion

Arizona Revised Statute § 28-643, Local Traffic Control Devices, states, “Local authorities in their respective jurisdictions shall place and maintain the traffic control devices on highways under their jurisdiction as they deem necessary to indicate and to carry out this chapter or local traffic ordinances or to regulate, warn or guide traffic. All traffic control devices erected shall conform to the manual and specifications prescribed in section 28-641.”

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Gila County Engineer that the Board adopt Resolution No. 21-07-02 for the installation of regulatory signage at the intersection of S. El Camino and S. Obscure Way located in Inspiration Townsite of Claypool in Gila County.
