Gila County Sheriff's Office Deputy Pay Plan Steps Program
Background Information
The purpose of the Wage and Salary Administration for Certified Law Enforcement Officers "GCSO Steps Program" is to establish compensation guidelines for Arizona Peace Officers Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) Certified Officers holding the rank of sworn Deputy Sheriff through sworn Lieutenant in order to encourage recruitment and retention; promote parity with other law enforcement officials; and maintain consistency in the market position so the County continues to have the engaged workforce needed to provide for the safety and security of all persons in Gila County.
Evaluation
This plan applies to all Arizona Post Certified Officers (AZPOST) in the Gila County Sheriff's Office from the rank of Sworn Deputy Sheriff through the rank of Sworn Lieutenant. This plan incorporates pay for the experience, across the board, and therefore replaces any other Board of Supervisors' approved compensation plan for AZPOST certified Gila County Sheriff's Office Employees.
Conclusion
Each classification within the Deputy Sheriff series shall have an established market range and steps within each range determined based upon a review of comparable counties and cities consistent with Gila County Policy BOS-HRS-410, Compensation Plan, and approved by the County Human Resources Director in consultation with the Sheriff.
Recommendation
Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the Gila County Sheriff's Office Deputy Pay Plan Steps Program to become effective July 1, 2021.
