Approve AZCares Fund Program Agreement (ERMT Grant Number: ERMT-20-041) in the amount of $2,960,977 allocated to Gila County from the State of Arizona.

Background Information

During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic many businesses continue to be severely impacted which impacts the County's revenue streams and stresses the ability to provide routine services. The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief & Economic Security (CARES) Act provided emergency funding for the State of Arizona and jurisdictions with a population of over 500,000. Governor Ducey directed a portion of that funding allocated to Arizona to the counties, cities, and towns with a population of less than 500,000 based on a $114 per capita allocation. Staff submitted the required application for the $2,960,977 funding online identifying qualifying costs for COVID-19 related services.

Evaluation

On June 17, 2020, the County received an Award Notification Letter advising that the County will receive $2,960,977 of AZCares Fund Program funding. It is in the best interest of the County to approve the Agreement. The Agreement identifies the reporting requirements, authorized expenditures, and terms and conditions of the funding award.

Conclusion

The Board of Supervisors needs to approve the AZCares Fund Program Agreement in order to accept the funding.

Recommendation

Staff recommends the Board's approval of the Agreement.
