Gila County Community Action Program (CAP) Advisory Board Appointment

Background Information

The Gila County CAP Advisory Board consists of 9 members of which 3 members represent the public sector and are appointed by the Board of Supervisors (BOS); 3 members represent low-income citizens and they are elected by the citizens of a specific geographic low-income area, and acknowledged by the BOS; and 3 members represent the private sector and they are appointed by the CAP Advisory Board, and acknowledged by the BOS.

There are several vacancies on the CAP Advisory Board and two of the vacancies represent the public sector. CAP Advisory Board members that represent the public sector are appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

Evaluation

The CAP Advisory Board is under the purview of the Board of Supervisors. Dorine Prine worked for the Community Services Department for many years and one of her responsibilities was overseeing all activities of the CAP Advisory Board. She retired from the County and has indicated her willingness to serve on this board.

Conclusion

It would be of great benefit to the County to have Ms. Prine serve on the CAP Advisory Board. The current term of office for this vacancy began on January 1, 2022, and runs through December 31, 2025. Ms. Prine's term of office would begin upon appointment by the Board of Supervisors and end on December 31, 2025.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors appoint Ms. Prine to the CAP Advisory Board.

Suggested Motion

Appointment of Dorine Prine to the Gila County Community Action Program Advisory Board for the term of office ending on December 31, 2025.
