Approval of Professional Services Contract No. 050522 with Clark Arizona Legal Services for the Superior Court.
Background Information
Each year the Superior Court in Gila County retains various attorneys to provide professional legal services, such as representation for indigent citizens in the categories of felony and misdemeanor criminal actions, delinquency, dependency, and mental health cases, as well as mediation services. These attorneys have, in prior years, executed a Letter of Understanding between themselves and the Superior Court.
Evaluation
The Professional Services Contracts for various attorneys utilized annually by the Superior Court in Gila County will expire on June 30, 2022. New contracts have been issued with a contract term commencing on July 1, 2022, and expiring on June 30, 2023, with the option to renew for three additional one-year periods.

The contracts will also serve to clearly identify and set expectations for the performance of the attorney. Professional Services Contract No. 050522 with Clark Arizona Legal Services is identical to the contractual language in the attorney contracts that were previously approved by the Board of Supervisors, with changes having been made only to the scope of work and the amount of compensation. The agreement amount is $7,425 per month or a not to exceed the amount of $89,100 per year.

Court staff wishes to execute a new contract with the attorney utilized by the Superior Court of Gila County to replace the contract that will expire on June 30, 2022. By entering into a Professional Services Contract with Clark Arizona Legal Services to provide professional legal defense services for the Superior Court in Gila County, the policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Supervisors for procurement processes will be satisfied.

Approval of Professional Services Contract No. 050522 with Clark Arizona Legal Service in a not to exceed amount of $89,100 to provide professional legal defense services for the Superior Court in Gila County for the period July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, replacing an expired contract.
