Request/Subject
Approval of Economic Development Grants to those non-profit corporations, operated and maintained within the boundaries of Gila, who have submitted an application and that the Board has determined to be for the benefit of the public.
Background Information
Each year constitute funds are budgeted to support economic development activities. The agencies listed below have applied to Gila County for an Economic Development Grant. Under A.R.S. §11-254, "contributions may be made to any governmental agency or to a nonprofit corporation which enjoys and maintains federal tax-exempt status as long as all monies are utilized for the purpose determined to be public by the board. If more than one nonprofit corporation is selected for a fiscal year, the Board shall determine the portion of the money that each will receive."

Evaluation
Funds are available. After reviewing each application/agreement, and asking any necessary questions, the Board shall determine which grant requests are for the benefit of the public. The Board may approve the Economic Development Grants that they have determined to be for the benefit of the public while considering previous conversations with Counsel. If any Supervisor does not recall those conversations, the Board shall move to enter into an Executive Session to obtain legal advice from Counsel.
Conclusion
Funds are available and after Evaluation, the Board may approve each Economic Development Grant, that the Board has determined to be for the benefit of the public, by entering into an agreement with the respective non-profit corporation. All grant monies awarded to each non-profit corporation shall be used for the purpose determined to be public by the Board.
Recommendation
After Evaluation, the Board may approve the Economic Development Grants that the Board has determined to be for the benefit of the public by entering into an Agreement with each respective non-profit corporation.
Suggested Motion
Approval of Economic Development Grants that the Board has determined to be for the benefit of the public and authorize the Chairman to sign the Agreements on behalf of the Board of Supervisors.
