Approval to Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Contract No. 050820 with the Law Offices of Stephen Jones for the Superior Court.

Background Information

On July 7, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved Professional Services Contract No. 050820 with the Law Offices of Stephen Jones, whereby the Law Offices of Stephen Jones provided legal services for indigent citizens as appointed by the Superior Court in Gila County for the period beginning July 10, 2020, to June 30, 2021. The contract provides a renewal option for three additional one-year periods. The original contract was executed for a not to exceed without written authorization amount of $75,600.

On June 15, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved Amendment No. 1 to Professional Services Contract No. 050820 with the Law Offices of Stephen Jones to extend the term of the contract for one additional year, from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022; and increased the contract amount by $4,400 for a new total contract amount not to exceed $80,000.

Evaluation

Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Contract No. 050820 with Law Offices of Stephen Jones extends the term of the contract for one additional year to June 30, 2023; and decreases the contract amount by $31,000 for a new total contract amount not to exceed $49,000.

Conclusion

Court Administration wishes to execute Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Contract No. 050820 with the Law Offices of Stephen Jones to extend the term of the contract for one additional year to June 30, 2023; and decrease the contract amount by $31,000 for a new total contract amount not to exceed $49,000.

Recommendation

The Court Administrator for the Superior Court in Gila County recommends approving Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Contract No. 050820 with the Law Offices of Stephen Jones to extend the term of the contract for one additional year to June 30, 2023; and decrease the contract amount by $31,000 for a new total contract amount not to exceed $49,000.
