Approval of Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Contract No. 061220 with Michael B. Bernays, Attorney at Law, for the Superior Court.

Background Information

On August 4, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved Professional Services Contract No. 061220 with Michael B. Bernays, Attorney at Law, whereby Mr. Bernays provided legal services for indigent citizens as appointed by the Superior Court in Gila County for the period beginning July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021. The contract provides a renewal option for three additional one-year periods. The original contract was executed for a not to exceed without written authorization amount of $72,000.

On July 6, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved Amendment No. 1 to Professional Services Contract No. 061220 with Mr. Bernays to extend the term of the contract for one additional year to June 30, 2022, with a contract amount not to exceed $72,000.

Evaluation

Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Contract No. 061220 with Michael B. Bernays, Attorney at Law, extends the term of the contract for one additional year June 30, 2023, with a contract amount not to exceed $72,000 without prior written approval from the County.

Conclusion

Court Administration wishes to execute Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Contract No. 061220 with Michael B. Bernays, Attorney at Law to extend the term of the contract for one additional year to June 30, 2023.

Recommendation

The Court Administrator for the Superior Court in Gila County recommends approving Amendment No. 2 to Professional Services Contract No. 061220 with Michael B. Bernays, Attorney at Law, to extend the term of the contract for one additional year to June 30, 2023.
