Request/Subject
The current Gila County policy on the abandonment of roadways in Gila County lets staff initiate abandonment proceedings with approval from the Board of Supervisors. This request is to begin the process to abandon a portion of Jefferson Street as shown on Miami Map No. 3. Official Map No. 25, Gila County Records.
Background Information
On January 10, 1910, at the request of F.L. Toombs, President of the Miami Realty Co. Miami Map No. 3 was recorded with Gila County. The recording information is Plat 25, Gila County Records, Territory of Arizona.

The streets, alleys, and parks shown on the map were dedicated to the public.
Evaluation
Jefferson Street adjacent to Lots 1-5 of Block 30 was never constructed and is not used for roadway purposes.
Conclusion
Vacating a portion of Jefferson Street will not deny anyone access to their property.
Recommendation
The Public Works Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors declare a portion of Jefferson St. not necessary for public use and direct staff to begin the process to abandon a portion of Jefferson Street as shown on Miami Map No. 3 GCR Map 25.
