Request/Subject

University of Arizona (U of A), Gila County Cooperative Extension Office Annual Report and Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2023 Budget Request.

Background Information

Each year a presentation is provided to the Board of Supervisors regarding the University of Arizona (U of A), Gila County Cooperative Extension Program's activities of the preceding year and other data included in the Cooperative Extension Program's Annual Report, and a budget request is made for the upcoming fiscal year to be considered during the County's regular budget process. Ms. Renee Carstens, U of A County Director, is responsible for the Cooperative Extension programs in Gila County and Pinal County.

Evaluation

County elected officials and department heads have worked with County staff to compile their tentative budgets. The entire Gila County Tentative Budget for FY 2022-2023 will be presented to the Board of Supervisors for adoption on this meeting agenda. It is beneficial that the Board consider the Gila County Cooperative Extension's budget request at this time.

Conclusion

The Gila County FY 2022-2023 Tentative Budget is scheduled to be presented to the Board of Supervisors for adoption later in this meeting; therefore, it is imperative that Ms. Carstens present the U of A, Gila County Cooperative Extension Office's budget at this time.

Recommendation

It is recommended that Ms. Carstens present the annual report and annual budget request to the Board of Supervisors on behalf of the U of A, Gila County Cooperative Extension Office.

Suggested Motion

Presentation of the University of Arizona's Gila County Cooperative Extension Office Annual Report and FY 2022-2023 Budget request to be considered for approval during Gila County's regular budget process. (Chris Jones)
