Adoption of Resolution No. 21-06-04

Background Information

On the evening of Friday, June 18, 2021, Michael O'Driscoll, Health and Emergency Management Department Director, requested that an Emergency Meeting of the Board of Supervisors be scheduled due to the Backbone Fire and Blevins Fire occuring in Gila County. An Emergency Meeting of the Board of Supervisors was scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 9 a.m. for the Board to adopt Resolution No. 21-06-04 for the issuance of a Declaration of Emergency due to the Backbone Fire and the Blevins Fire.

Evaluation

Each Board member attended the meeting on June 19th with Jessica Scibelli, Deputy County Attorney; Jacque Sanders, Deputy County Manager; Michael O'Driscoll, Health and Emergency Management Department Director; and Melissa Henderson, Deputy Clerk of the Board, present by phone. Mr. O'Driscoll presented information regarding the subject fires and he reviewed the contents of Resolution No. 21-06-04. The Board unanimously adopted the resolution.

Conclusion

Per Arizona Revised Statute, a notice and agenda of the Emergency Meeting was published and posted as soon as possible after the meeting.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action to adopt Resolution No. 21-06-04 issuing a Declaration of Emergency in Gila County due to the Backbone Fire that began on June 16, 2021, and the Blevins Fire that began on June 18, 2021, in Gila County; and authorize the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors to take all further actions as may be necessary or appropriate to implement this declaration pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute (A.R.S.) 26-311.
