Approve Resolution No. 22-05-03 adopting a Supervisory District map. The new plan boundaries, including any election precinct boundary changes, shall become effective January 2, 2023, by the Board of Supervisors.
Background Information
The Redistricting Advisory Committee was formed by the Board of Supervisors on September 21, 2021, and tasked with the duty to receive and review all maps submitted for the Supervisory District boundaries. The Committee conducted a series of public meetings November 30, 2021, through December 6, 2021, to inform the public of the process to submit maps for consideration by the Committee. Over the course of the public input process, the Committee received and reviewed a total of 24 maps for the Supervisory Districts. The maps that met the criteria set forth in the guiding principles were reviewed and ranked by the Committee and the best three alternatives for the Supervisory Districts were selected to present to the Board at a Work Session held on January 25, 2022. At the direction of the Board and the Committee, a series of public meetings were held the week of January 25, 2022, to gather public comment on the three alternative maps. An additional Work Session with the Board of Supervisors was held on March 29, 2022, to discuss the changes requested by the Supervisors, and an additional map that was submitted. The Board of Supervisors selected three maps to open up for public comment until April 29, 2022. The final step in the process for the Supervisory Districts redistricting is for the Board of Supervisors to adopt Resolution No. 22-05-03 selecting the map to represent the District boundaries, and to make the changes effective on January 2, 2023.
