Official Canvass of the May 17, 2016, Statewide Special Election Results.
Background Information
A Statewide Special Election for Proposition 123 and Proposition 124 was held on May 17, 2016.  In accordance with Arizona Revised Statute §16-642, the Board of Supervisors must canvass the election results and declare them to be official.
Evaluation
Arizona Revised Statute §16-642 provides that the governing body holding an election shall meet and canvass the election not less than six days nor more than twenty days following the election.

The last day to submit the canvass of the election results to the Secretary of State's Office is Thursday, May 26, 2016.
Conclusion
The Statewide Special Election was conducted in Gila County on May 17, 2016, and the Board of Supervisors is required by law to canvass the returns of the election and send a certified copy of the canvass to the Secretary of State.
Recommendation
The Elections Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors canvass the election returns for the Statewide Special Election held, May 17, 2016, and declare the results of the election official.

Information/Discussion/Action to canvass the election results contained in the Official Canvass of the Statewide Special Election held on May 17, 2016, in Gila County, Arizona and declare the results official.  (Eric Mariscal)
