Information
Request/Subject
To determine whether a portion of New Street as shown on Miami Map No. 2 GCR Map 23 is necessary for public use as a road and if not then necessary for public use then accept a Citizens' Petition to begin the process to abandon a portion of New Street as shown on Miami Map No. 2 GCR Map 23.
Background Information
On October 9, 1909, at the request of F.L. Toombs, President of the Miami Realty Co., Miami Map No. 2 was recorded with Gila County. The recording information is Plat 23, Gila County Records, Territory of Arizona.

The streets, alleys, and parks shown on the map were dedicated to the public.
Evaluation
New Street is the main access to Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold, Inc.'s (FMI) copper mine. The portion of New Street being considered for abandonment is not used by the general public. It is used by FMI and their employees and guests for access to the mine.
Conclusion
Vacating this road will not deny anyone access to their property.
Recommendation
It is the recommendation of the Public Works Director that the Board of Supervisors declare a portion of New Street not necessary for public use and accept a Citizens' Petition to begin the process to abandon a portion of New Street as shown on Miami Map No. 2 GCR Map 23.
Suggested Motion
Information/Discussion/Action to declare a portion of New Street not necessary for public use and accept a Citizens' Petition to begin the process to abandon a portion of New Street as shown on Miami Map No. 2 GCR Map 23. (Steve Sanders)
