| Approval of the use of 1GPA Contract No. 18-15PV with Sun Valley Builders for the demolition and installation of a new roof at the Michaelson Building. |
| Background Information |
Gila County has owned a historic building in downtown Globe, AZ since October 1991. Built in 1929, it is a two-story structure of over 7,900 square feet constructed of concrete floors and masonry walls. The existing roof system consists of the original site-built trusses which over the years have become weak and structurally unsound due to numerous reoccurring leaks, prompting the need for an entirely new roof system. Completing the roof project will allow partners to proceed with the renovation.
Gila County has received a proposal from Sun Valley Builders, of Scottsdale. Sun Valley Builders is part of 1GPA, a government cooperative procurement alliance. Awarding the contract amount of $390,609 will cover the demolition of the existing roof structure, framing of a new roof to include the trusses, skylight curbs, all permitting, traffic control and clean up.
The funding source for this project is composed of $150,000 from Freeport-McMoRan and $240,609 from the American Rescue Plan Act funding. |

Sun Valley Builders, a General Contractor, is a member of 1GPA, a government cooperative procurement alliance. 1GPA contracts are competitively bid and will give Gila County a competitive price and timely completion of a complex project.
Sun Valley Builders will manage the demolition of the current roof and install the new roof and engineered trusses, including coordinating permitting and traffic controls during the implementation of the project. |

By awarding Service Agreement 1GPA No. 18-15PV to Sun Valley Builders, Gila County can ensure that the roof demolition/replacement on the Michaelson Building in downtown Globe will be completed in a timely manner at a competitive price by using the government cooperative contract.
