Request/Subject

Grant Award from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) to establish youth advisory councils.

Background Information

The Gila County Health and Emergency Management (GCHEM) Department learned of a grant opportunity to establish youth councils that focus on public health topic areas impacting adolescents. On October 13, 2021, GCHEM submitted a grant application to the ADHS’ Bureau of Women’s and Children’s Health for $50,000 for the period of July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. The grant funds are to establish and fund two youth advisory councils; one in northern Gila County and one in southern Gila County. On February 2, 2022, GCHEM was notified that it was awarded the grant in the amount of $50,000.01 for the period July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.

On November 2, 2021, the Board of Supervisors authorized the submittal of the grant application (Request for Grant Application No. RFGA2022-002), which included the Offer and Acceptance page. All documents were signed by Chairman Humphrey on behalf of Gila County.

Evaluation

GCHEM would like to publicly acknowledge and show appreciation to the ADHS Bureau of Women’s and Children’s Health for this grant award.

Conclusion

By accepting the grant award it will allow the Board to publicly acknowledge the grant funding from ADHS Bureau of Women’s and Children’s Health.

Recommendation

The GCHEM Department Director requests that the Board of Supervisors accept this grant award from ADHS.
