Amendment No. 1 to Funding Agreement No. 309-13 with Arizona Department of Housing.

Background Information

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program was started with the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974. The Department of Housing and Urban Development was to distribute funds to entitlement communities for projects that would develop viable communities, provide decent housing, suitable living environments and expand economic opportunities. It wasn't until 1981 that each state received an allocation on behalf of the non-entitlement communities and in 1982 funds were distributed and administered from the Arizona Department of Housing to the four rural Councils of Government within Arizona.

On May 7, 2013, the Board of Supervisors authorized a Funding Agreement between the Arizona Department of Housing and Gila County for Owner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation.

Evaluation

Amendment No. 1 to the Funding Agreement (Contract No. 309-13) with the Arizona Department of Housing will extend the termination date of the contract to July 15, 2015.

Conclusion

By the Board of Supervisors approving Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 309-13, Gila County Housing Services will continue to provide rehabilitation services to eligible citizens residing in Gila County.

Recommendation

The Community Services Division Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve this amendment.

Approval of Amendment No. 1 to a Funding Agreement between the Arizona Department of Housing and Gila County (Division of Community Services, Housing Services) for Owner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation (Contract No. 309-13) to extend the contract through July 15, 2015.
