Authorize request to advertise Invitation for Bids No. 012523 - Russell Gulch Landfill Scales and Installation.

Background Information

The Russell Gulch Landfill in Globe is undergoing a cell expansion that is due to be completed by May 8, 2023. According to Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), Master Facility Plan number 04012200.03. Gila County is required to relocate the Scale House Operation Building and scales to the immediate entrance of the facility.

Evaluation

Specifications and construction plans are ready for bid. The anticipation of construction completion is 60 days from the date of the Notice to Proceed. The plans include excavation, grading, scale foundations, ramps, two pier-type foundation scales, scale indicators, corrosive protection, and Arizona State Certification.

Conclusion

It is important that construction begin as soon as possible in the event there are unexpected delays due to weather or something else unforeseen. The Recycling and Landfill Management plans to have the Russell Gulch Landfill scales and installation completed in conjunction with the completion of the new cell 3A expansion.

Recommendation

The Public Works Department Director and the Recycling Landfill Manager recommend approval of the advertisement of Invitation for Bids No. 012523 - Russell Gulch Landfill Scales and Installation.
