Gila County Board of Adjustment Reappointment

Background Information

Per Arizona Revised Statute § 11-816, the Board of Supervisors may establish one board of adjustment that has jurisdiction countywide and that is composed of one member who is a resident of each supervisorial district or one board of adjustment in each supervisorial district that has jurisdiction in that supervisorial district of not less than 3 nor more than 5 members. The Gila County Board of Adjustment has chosen to have one board of adjustment that has jurisdiction countywide so there is one member that represents each supervisorial district. The members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and the terms of office are for 4 years.

Mickie Nye's term of office on the Gila County Board of Adjustment will expire on December 31, 2022. Mr. Nye represents Supervisor Cline's district. Supervisor Cline has asked Mr. Nye to serve another 4-year term of office and Mr. Nye has indicated his willingness to continue serving on this board.

Evaluation

Supervisor Cline has asked Mr. Nye to continue serving on the Board of Adjustment to represent his supervisorial district and Mr. Nye has agreed.

Conclusion

Per statutory requirement, the Board of Supervisors has the authority to reappoint Mr. Nye to the Board of Adjustment for another 4-year term of office. The new term would begin on January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2026.

Recommendation

Supervisor Cline recommends that the Board of Supervisors reappoint Mr. Nye to the Gila County Board of Adjustment through December 31, 2026.

Suggested Motion

Approval to reappoint Mickie Nye to the Gila County Board of Adjustment for a term of office for the period of January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2026.
