Approval to use Mohave Cooperative Contract No. 190-ARJP-0221 with Dave Bang Associates, Inc. for the purchase of Playground Equipment
Background Information
The established scope of work is part of Phase 1 of the Veteran’s Retreat Project. An area has been mapped out for a playground structure. Several vendors were contacted. Dave Bang & Associates came in at the lowest price for the equipment and is on the Mohave Cooperative Contract.

Our primary objective is to provide a safe and hospitable environment that lends itself to healing and learning through its environment. To facilitate our mission; we must consider upgrades that go beyond the face of the existing infrastructure. The facility must be able to provide a pleasant and calming atmosphere conducive to the nature of the retreat. If we are to accomplish our mission we will progress in phases for accommodations and amenities, through a strategy of single-day and multi-day use.
  1. Day use program will support ease of access and use for the following: Golf Frisbee, Picnic Ramada’s, leisure trails, hiking trails, horseshoes, mountain biking, badminton, fitness center, volleyball, archery, common areas, playgrounds, star gazing, nature watching.
Accommodations will be created throughout the grounds for multi-day multi-event use. Two cabin suites will be renovated to support veterans and families with the basic amenities of a 3-bedroom cabin. There are two lodges that can accommodate.
  1. larger groups with individual rooms, supporting 8-10 veterans. Within the lodging facilities, there will be a common kitchen and media area.
  1. Multi-role site, combining the two strategies creates a synergy that will support a landing for other 501(c)3 programs, Veterans Affairs Outreach and Resources, Private Sector Veterans Outreach Programs, and Entertainment Venue: ultimately fulfilling our mission.
Evaluation
Dave Bang & Associates' contract was competitively bid by the State of Arizona and allows for other public entities to utilize the contract for purchases and contracted work. Dave Bang & Associates will be able to provide the playground equipment, as well as deliver and install it for the price quoted.
Conclusion
The next step in phase 1 of establishing the Veteran’s retreat is the installation of a playground. A playground allows children to enjoy the retreat in an outdoor and family-oriented atmosphere.
