Approval of Funding Agreement No. 309-21 between the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) and Gila County for Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation.
Background Information
ADOH administers HOME Investment Partnership Program funds and State Housing Fund (SHF) funds for programs through units of local government and non-profit agencies that provide rehabilitation to certain property types owned and occupied as the primary residence of low-income homeowners.
Evaluation
Gila County Community Services Department, Housing Services, currently maintains a waiting list for income-eligible housing rehabilitation applicants. Funding will be utilized to rehabilitate approximately seven (7) units that have been identified and qualified for Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation (OOHR). The units have structural issues and need roof repair, plumbing or electrical repair, and/or structural modifications to meet current codes.
Conclusion
Using the HOME Investment Partnership Program funds and SHF funds, the Gila County Community Services Department, Housing Services, will provide energy-efficient rehabilitation to approximately seven (7) units that are currently on the waiting list and qualified as housing rehabilitation applicants.
Recommendation
The Gila County Community Services Department Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve Funding Agreement No. 309-21 with ADOH to receive $350,000 in HOME Investment Partnership Program funds and $35,000 in SHF funds, for a total of $385,000 to provide OOHR.
