Background Information
On July 10, 2018, the Gila County Board of Supervisors approved the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission Drug, Gang, and Violent Crime Control FY 2019 Grant Agreement No. DC-19-004 for the Gila County Drug, Gang, and Violent Crimes Task Force in the amount of $302,320 (State funds $120,928; Federal funds $105,812; county general fund match $75,580) for the performance period of July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019.
Evaluation
New grant requirements were put in place for FY2019 and require that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution as well as the U.S. Department of Justice Certifications and assurances by the Chief Executive of the Applicant Government.
Conclusion
The Gila County Sheriff's Office will be required to provide the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission the grant agreement, resolution as well as the U.S. Department of Justice Certifications and Assurances by the Chief Executive of the applicant government each year for the Gila County Drug, Gang, and Violent Crimes Task Force grant.
Recommendation
Gila County Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt Resolution No. 18-08-06, and the certifications and assurances by the Chief Executive of the applicant government for the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission Drug, Gang, and Violent Crime Control Grant Agreement No. DC-19-004.
