Contract Award in Response to Invitation for Bids (IFB) No. 080218-1-One New 1 Ton, Full Size, 4x4 Regular Cab , SRW, Cab and Chassis and Utility Service Body with 60" Cab to Axle Dimension.

Background Information

One vehicle will be relinquished by the Engineering Department and this vehicle will be used as a "trade-in" to prevent increasing the size of the fleet and it will be disposed of at auction.

Evaluation

The new vehicle mentioned in the IFB will be replacing a unit that is older and has high mileage. The Engineering/Signs Department will be relinquishing C-41, 2008 1-Ton Flatbed Ford with 145,466 miles for auction.

Conclusion

The vehicle that will be purchased through a contract related to this IFB will be assigned to the Engineering/Signs Department. The Board authorized the advertisement of the IFB on August 20, 2018. The publication dates were August 29, 2018, and September 05, 2018 with a due date of September 13, 2018. Five bids were received.

Recommendation

The Public Works Division Director and Public Works General Services Manager recommend that the Board of Supervisors award a contract to McSpadden Ford in the amount of $52,474.66 for the purchase of one new 1 ton, full size, 4x4 regular cab , SRW, cab and Chassis and utility service body with 60" cab to axle dimension to be used by the Engineering/Signs Department as specified in IFB No. 080218-1.

Suggested Motion

Information/Discussion/Action to review all bids submitted for Invitation for Bids No. 080218-1 for the purchase of one new 1 ton, full size 4x4 regular cab, SRW, cab and chassis, and utility service body with 60" cab to axle dimension for assignment to the Engineering/Signs Department; award to the lowest, responsible and qualified bidder; and authorize the Chairman's signature on the award contract.
