Request/Subject

Resolution No. 16-09-01 accepting a grant of roadway easement for portions of Pinal Creek Road in the Globe area.

Background Information

Pinal Creek Road begins at U.S. Hwy. 60 and traverses through several private parcels of land ending at Bixby Road. Gila County maintains the road once it leaves the Globe City limits. The County has easements over portions of the road and has been attempting to acquire easements for the entire road in the County. There are two easement requests currently pending from property owners along the road. Approval of this resolution will grant the County easements from the majority of property owners along the roadway and accept roadway easements from Mitch Holder (Fee No. 2015-010075) and Monty and Clara Nichols (Fee No. 2015-010262).

Evaluation

Pinal Creek Road provides access to a number of homes in the area. The road can also be used as an emergency bypass in the event U.S. Hwy. 60 is closed between Cobre Valley Motors and the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 60 and State Route 188.

Conclusion

It is the best interest of the County to hold easements on Pinal Creek Road.

Recommendation

The Gila County Public Works Director recommends the Board approve and adopt Resolution No. 16-09-01.

Information/Discussion/Action to adopt Resolution No. 16-09-01 to accept a Grant of Easement from Monty and Clara Nichols, and Mitch Holder; and, to accept and sign a Grant of Easement with BHP Copper, Inc., and an Access Easement Agreement with Freeport-McMoRan Miami, Inc., all of which pertain to roadway easements for portions of Pinal Creek Road in the Globe area.
