Amendment No.1 to an Intergovernmental Agreement (Contract No. ADHS13-049248) for a Tuberculosis Control Program.

Background Information

The purpose of this funding is to continue to supplement Gila County Health Department's tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control activities within Gila County. This includes identifying active TB cases and ensuring completion of therapy, conducting surveillance and reporting activities, and providing TB training and education to the public and medical professionals. The original contract was approved by the Board on August 6, 2013. Amendment No. 1 is a revision to the Price Sheet to continue services through 2018.

Evaluation

The Gila County Health Department is required to provide tuberculosis (TB) testing, screening and treatment, along with outbreak investigations. The objective of the TB program is to enhance prevention activities and provide medical treatment to reduce transmission of the disease in Gila County.

Conclusion

The Tuberculosis Control Program is used to enhance prevention activities, increase surveillance, and treat cases in Gila County to reduce transmission risks.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Gila County Health and Emergency Management Division Director that the Board of Supervisors approve Amendment No. 1 to an Intergovernmental Agreement (Contract No. ADHS13-049248) with the Arizona Department of Health Services for the period 7/1/2013 to 6/30/2018 in the amount of $12,000 annually.

Suggested Motion

Approval of Amendment No. 1 to an Intergovernmental Agreement (Contract No. ADHS13-049248) between Gila County and the Arizona Department of Health Services to replace the price sheet in the contract, all of which is to provide tuberculosis prevention services for the period of July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2018, in the annual amount of $12,000.
