Background Information
On May 19, 2020, the Gila County Sheriff's Office electronically submitted a grant application to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission in the amount of $210,817 in order to provide personal protective equipment (PPE), overtime and employee related expenses resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic impact. On July 7, 2020, the Board of Supervisors authorized the electronic submission of the grant application to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission in the amount of $210,817.
Evaluation
On June 8, 2020, the Gila County Sheriff's Office received written notification from the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission that the grant application in the requested amount of $210,817 that was submitted to the ACJC on May 19, 2020, by the Sheriff's Office has been awarded in the amount of $169,263.
Conclusion
The Gila County Sheriff's Office has been awarded the FY20 Arizona Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (ACESF) Program, Grant Award No. ACESF-21-021 from the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission in the amount of $169,263 (federal funds) to provide personal protective equipment (PPE), overtime and employee related expenses for the period of January 20, 2020 to January 20, 2022.
Recommendation
Gila County Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the Grant Agreement between the Gila County Sheriff's Office and the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission in the amount of $169,263 for fiscal year 2020.
