Arizona Criminal Justice Commission Drug, Gang, and Violent Crime Control Grant Agreement for FY 2021 Award Cycle 34 (ACJC #DC-21-004).
Background Information
On March 6, 2020, the Gila County Sheriff's Office electronically submitted a grant application to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission in the amount of $900,533 in order to provide continued funding for the salaries and benefits of the Gila County Sheriff's Office Drug, Gang, and Violent Crimes Task Force. On April 7, 2020, the Board of Supervisors authorized the electronic submission of the grant application to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission in the amount of $900,533.
Evaluation
On June 1, 2020, the Gila County Sheriff's Office received written notification from the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission that the grant application in the requested amount of $900,533 that was submitted to the ACJC on March 6, 2020, by the Sheriff's Office has been awarded in the amount of $331,654.
Conclusion
The Gila County Sheriff's Office has been awarded the Drug, Gang, and Violent Crime Control Grant Agreement (FY 2021 Award Cycle 34-ACJC Grant No. DC-21-004) from the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission in the amount of $331,654 ($116,079 in federal funds, $132,662 in state funds and $82,913 in matching funds from the County's General Fund) to provide continued funding for the Gila County Drug, Gang, and Violent Crimes Task Force for the period of July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021.
Recommendation
Gila County Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the Grant Agreement between the Gila County Sheriff's Office and the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission in the amount of $331,654 for fiscal year 2021.
