Background Information

On May 15, 2020, the Gila County Sheriff's Office electronically submitted the Arizona State Parks and Trails OHV Law Enforcement Equipment Grant Application. On June 2, 2020, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Sheriff's Office electronic submission of the grant application to the Arizona State Parks and Trails in the amount of $29,921.97 with an in-kind match of $1,600 for a total project cost $31,521.97 for the purchase of a 2020 Polaris Ranger Crew 1000, 4 wheel drive and associated equipment to assist with law enforcement and education patrols throughout Gila County.

Evaluation

The Gila County Sheriff's Office was awarded Arizona State Parks and Trails OHV Law Enforcement Equipment Gila County Sheriff's Office Grant Project No. 552012 in the amount of $29,921.97 with an in-kind match of $1,600 for a total project cost $31,521.97 for the purchase of a 2020 Polaris Ranger Crew 1000, 4 wheel drive and associated equipment to assist with law enforcement and education patrols throughout Gila County.

Conclusion

The Gila County Sheriff's Office was awarded a grant (Project No. 552012) from Arizona State Parks and Trails OHV Law Enforcement Equipment in the amount of $29,921.97 with an in-kind match of $1,600 for a total project cost $31,521.97 that will be used to purchase a 2020 Polaris Ranger Crew 1000.

Recommendation

Gila County Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd recommends that the Board of Supervisors accept the Arizona State Parks and Trails OHV Law Enforcement Equipment Gila County Sheriff's Office Grant Project No. 552012, in the amount of $29,921.97 with an in-kind match of $1,600 for a total project cost $31,521.97 for the purchase of a 2020 Polaris Ranger Crew 1000, 4 wheel drive and associated equipment to assist with law enforcement and education patrols throughout Gila County.
