Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission Appointment
Background Information
Randy Slapnicka resigned from the Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission (Commission). His term of office will expire on December 31, 2022. Mr. Slapnicka was representing Supervisor Martin's district. Supervisor Martin would like Dean Pederson to serve as Mr. Slapnicka's replacement through the end of the term of office. Mr. Pederson has accepted the offer to serve on the Commission.
Evaluation
If approved by the Board of Supervisors, Mr. Pederson will fulfill Mr. Slapnicka's unexpired term of office which ends on December 31, 2022, and he will represent Supervisorial District 1.
Conclusion
Per the statutory requirement, the Board of Supervisors has the authority to appoint members to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Board of Supervisors needs to vote to appoint Dean Pederson to the Commission to fulfill Mr. Slapnicka's unexpired term of office which ends on December 31, 2022.
Recommendation
Supervisor Tommie Martin recommends the appointment of Dean Pederson to the Commission to fulfill Mr. Slapnicka's unexpired term of office.
Suggested Motion
Approval to appoint Dean Pederson to the Gila County Planning and Zoning Commission to fulfill Randy Slapnicka's unexpired term of office that ends on December 31, 2022.
