On May 1, 2018, the Board of Supervisors awarded Contract No. 022818 to Pima Paving for the Houston Mesa Chip Seal Project. Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 022818 was executed on December 18, 2019, to extend the contract term from November 30, 2018, to June 30, 2019, to allow time for chip seal repair work associated with the contract warranty. Further, Amendment No. 1 served to remove the language from the contract: ISRAEL BOYCOTT CERTIFICATION: "Contractor hereby certifies that it is not currently engaged in and will not, for the duration of this agreement, engage in a boycott of Israel as required by A.R.S. § 35-393.01. Violation of this certification by Contractor may result in action by County up to and including termination of this agreement." The chip seal repair work is ongoing and it is anticipated that these repairs and associated work will be completed by September 30, 2019.
Pima Paving and Gila County have agreed to withhold payment of 25% of the total chip seal item amounting to $56,553 until the County accepts the needed repairs.
