Public Hearing to Adopt the FY 2020 Gila County Improvement Districts' Budgets

Background Information

On June 18, 2019, the Gila County Board of Supervisors adopted the FY 2020 Gila County Tentative Budget, which includes the Gila County Improvement Districts' Budgets. The Improvement Districts are: Pine Street Lighting Improvement District (SLID); East Verde SLID; Miami Gardens SLID; Apache Hills SLID; Upper Glendale SLID; Midland City/Central Heights SLID; and Claypool SLID.

When the Board of Supervisors adopted the FY 2020 Gila County Tentative Budget, it also set a public hearing for July 23, 2019, to hear taxpayers who may wish to comment on the FY 2020 Gila County Tentative Budget which includes the Improvement Districts' Budgets. A notice of the public hearing was published in the newspaper; however, the hearing date was changed to August 6, 2019, so a revised notice of this public hearing was published in the July 17, 2019, and July 24, 2019, editions of the Arizona Silver Belt newspaper, the official County newspaper for 2019.

Evaluation

This agenda item is scheduled as a public hearing to hear taxpayers who may wish to comment on the FY 2020 Gila County Improvement Districts' Budgets. After receiving public comment, the Boards of Directors for the Gila County Improvement Districts need to adopt the FY 2020 Budgets for the County Improvement Districts per the FY 2020 Budget Schedules entitled "Street Lighting Improvement Districts."

Conclusion

Once the public hearing concludes, the BOD needs to adopt the FY 2020 Budgets for the Gila County Improvement Districts.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Boards of Directors for the Gila County Improvement Districts convene a public hearing to hear taxpayers who may wish to comment on the FY 2020 Tentative Budgets for the County Improvement Districts; and adopt the FY 2020 Budgets for County Improvement Districts per the FY 2020 Budget Schedules entitled "Street Lighting Improvement Districts."

Suggested Motion

Convene a public hearing to hear taxpayers who may wish to comment on the FY 2020 Gila County Improvement Districts' Tentative Budgets which were adopted on June 18, 2019, and on any proposed changes to the Tentative Budgets; and adopt the FY 2020 Budgets for County Improvement Districts per the FY 2020 Budget Schedules entitled "Street Lighting Improvement Districts." (Mary Springer) (Adjourn as the Board of Directors of the Improvement Districts of Gila County and reconvene as the Gila County Board of Supervisors.)
