Public Hearing to Adopt the FY 2020 Gila County Flood Control District Budget

Background Information

On June 18, 2019, the Gila County Board of Supervisors adopted the FY 2020 Gila County Tentative Budget, which includes the Gila County Flood Control District Budget in the amount of ~~$235,888~~ $585,888.

When the Board of Supervisors adopted the FY 2020 Gila County Tentative Budget, it also set a public hearing for July 23, 2019, to hear taxpayers who may wish to comment on the FY 2020 Gila County Tentative Budget which includes the Flood Control District Budget. A notice of the public hearing was published in the newspaper; however, the hearing date was changed to August 6, 2019, so a revised notice of this public hearing was published in the July 17, 2019, and July 24, 2019, editions of the Arizona Silver Belt newspaper, the official County newspaper for 2019.

Evaluation

This agenda item is scheduled as a public hearing to hear taxpayers who may wish to comment on the FY 2020 Gila County Flood Control District Tentative Budget. After receiving public comment, the Gila County Flood Control District Board of Directors (BOD) needs to adopt the FY 2020 Gila County Flood Control District Budget in the amount of $235,888.

Conclusion

Once the public hearing concludes, the BOD needs to adopt the FY 2020 Gila County Flood Control District Budget in the amount of $235,888.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the BOD convene a public hearing to hear taxpayers who may wish to comment on the FY 2020 Gila County Flood Control District Budget; and adopt the FY 2020 Gila County Flood Control District Budget.

Suggested Motion

Convene a public hearing to hear taxpayers who may wish to comment on the FY 2020 Gila County Flood Control District Tentative Budget, which was adopted on June 18, 2019, or on any proposed changes to the Tentative Budget; and adopt the FY 2020 Gila County Flood Control District Budget in the amount of $235,888.
