Request to Advertise Invitation for Bids No. 072718-Baker Ranch Road Improvement Project

Background Information

The intent of this request is to solicit for bids for a roadway improvement project for a portion of Baker Ranch road located in Young, Arizona. The proposed project would begin at the intersection of Baker Ranch and Zachariae Ranch roads and continue west for approximately 1 mile. The proposed work consists of pulverizing the existing pavement surface and base material where applicable followed by the installation of geogrid base reinforcement, new aggregate base material and asphaltic concrete pavement.

The Eastern Arizona Resource Advisory Council (RAC) approved $250,000 of RAC funds to be used for the proposed improvements on Baker Ranch road.

The Gila County Board of Supervisor’s approved a contract on February 20, 2018 for Woodson Engineering to prepare the project plans and specifications for the proposed improvements for Baker Ranch road.

Evaluation

The existing surface of Baker Ranch road is mostly unpaved and requires routine maintenance from County forces to provide a safe roadway for the traveling public.

Conclusion

Surface improvements to Baker Ranch road will eliminate the current need for routine maintenance by County forces and will provide a safer roadway for the traveling public.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Interim the Public Works Division Director that the Board of Supervisors authorize the advertisement of Invitation for Bids No. 072718 to be published for two consecutive weeks in the Payson Roundup newspaper.
