Information
Request/Subject
The current Gila County policy on the abandonment of roadways in Gila County lets staff initiate abandonment proceedings with approval from the Board of Supervisors. This request is to begin the process to abandon Hill Street between Block 25 and Block 24, all in the Miami Map No. 2 Subdivision, Official Map No. 23 Gila County Records.
Background Information
Miami Map No. 2 was recorded in 1909. Some of the roads in the subdivision were never constructed. This portion of Hill Street was never constructed. It is a turnout off U.S. Highway 60 near the where the railroad tracks cross the highway in lower Miami. The adjacent property belongs to the Nichols family and to Freeport McMoran Miami Inc. The turnout was never constructed and serves no purpose. Access to the property is served from various locations.
Evaluation
Abandoning this road will not deny anyone access.
Conclusion
It is in the best interest of all involved to begin the process to abandon Hill Street between Block 25 and Block 24, all in the Miami Map No. 2 Subdivision, Official Map No. 23 Gila County Records.
Recommendation
It is the recommendation of the Public Works Division Deputy Director that the Board begin the process to dispose of Hill Street in the Miami Map No. 2 Subdivision.
Suggested Motion
