Independent Contractor Agreement 2018-19 Utility Assistance Programs (Contract No. 07012018-19) with the Arizona Community Action Association.

Background Information

This contract has been in existence between the Arizona Community Action Association (ACAA) and the Gila County Community Services Division, Community Action Program (CAP), for the past 10 years.

ACAA is a 501 (c) (3) non profit agency created in 1967 to address poverty across Arizona. Through a collaboration of nearly 300 organizations and individuals, ACAA develops and implements strategies to address and ultimately eliminate poverty.

The Community Action Program was launched in 1964 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson's Economic Opportunity Act to fight poverty by empowering the poor.

Evaluation

Contract No. 07012018-19 will administer energy program funding from ACAA in the amount of $95,636.51 to Gila County CAP to be used to provide weatherization services, utility repair and replacement, utility deposits and bill assistance to eligible citizens residing in Gila County.

Conclusion

By the Board of Supervisors approving this contract, Gila County CAP will receive funding to provide eligible citizens residing in Gila County with services that promote economic self-sufficiency.

Recommendation

The Gila County Community Services Division Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve this contract in order for Gila County CAP to receive funding to provide weatherization and utility services.

Suggested Motion

Approval of an Independent Contractor Agreement (Contract No. 07012018-19) between the Arizona Community Action Association (ACAA) and the Gila County Community Services Division, Community Action Program (CAP), whereby ACAA will administer funding in the amount of $95,636.51, which will be used to provide weatherization services, utility repair and replacement, utility deposits and bill assistance to eligible citizens residing in Gila County for the period of July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019.
