Amendment No. 1 to Employment Contract - Gila County Manager, with James Menlove as County Manager.

Background Information

The Employment Contract for County Manager James Menlove expires on June 30, 2020. Mr. Menlove was hired as County Manager on July 1, 2017.

Paragraph 7 of the contract states, "...In the event the Board elects not to renew or extend Menlove's appointment beyond the term set for in Paragraph 2, County shall provide Menlove six (6) calendar months' notice of its intention not to renew or extend, no later than December 31, 2019".

Evaluation

Amendment No. 1 to Employment Contract will allow the Gila County Board of Supervisors adequate time to consider a revised employment contract. Contract Amendment No. 1 will extend current employment contract for an additional six month period, July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

Conclusion

Recommendation

It is in the best interest of the Board to approve Amendment No. 1 to Employment Contract - Gila County Manager, and engage James Menlove as its County Manager for an additional six month period, July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. This will allow the Board time to consider a revised employment contract. All other terms and conditions of the original contract shall remain in full force and affect during the July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 extension period.

Suggested Motion

Approval of Amendment No. 1 to Employment Contract-Gila County Manager to extend the term of the contract for an additional six month period, July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
