Request/Subject

Adoption of Resolution No. 19-07-01 for the installation of regulatory signage at the intersection of Hardscrabble Mesa Road and Southard Drive located in the unincorporated community of Pine in Gila County.

Background Information

Public Works received numerous requests from residents in the area to assess the signage that the intersection and see if anything could be done to improve the safety of the intersection.

Evaluation

The County Engineer along with engineering staff assessed the intersection for safety. Due to limited sight visibility of the intersection staff feels it necessary to stop all traffic at the intersection.

Conclusion

Arizona Revised Statute §28-643, Local Traffic Control Devices, states, “Local authorities in their respective jurisdictions shall place and maintain the traffic control devices on highways under their jurisdiction as they deem necessary to indicate and to carry out this chapter or local traffic ordinances or to regulate, warn or guide traffic. All traffic control devices erected shall conform to the manual and specifications prescribed in section 28-641.”

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Director of Public Works and the County Engineer that the Board adopt Resolution No. 19-07-01 for the installation of regulatory signage at the intersection of Hardscrabble Mesa Road and Southard Drive in Gila County.
