Request/Subject

Approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement (Contract No. 19-206467) for a Tuberculosis Control Program with the Arizona Department of Health Services. The AZ State Procurement Department changed the contract number after the Board of Supervisors approved the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) in June 2018.

Background Information

The purpose of this funding is to continue to supplement the Gila County Health Department's Tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control activities within Gila County by investigating all cases of active TB and provide completion of therapy follow-up calls and visits for latent TB infections and managing those infections. Approval of this proposed contract is necessary to continue providing the same services.

Evaluation

The Gila County Health Department is required to provide Tuberculosis (TB) testing, screening and treatment, along with outbreak investigations. The objective of the program is to enhance TB prevention and control activities in Gila County.

Conclusion

Approval of this IGA (Contract No. ADHS19-206467) with the Arizona Department of Health Services is necessary to allow the Gila County Public Health Department to continue to enhance prevention activities, increase surveillance, and treat cases in Gila County to reduce transmission risks.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Gila County Health and Emergency Management Division Director that the Board of Supervisors approve this IGA for the period 7/1/2018 to 6/30/2023 in an amount of $12,000 annually.

Suggested Motion

Approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement (Contract No. ADHS19-206467) between Gila County and the Arizona Department of Health Services to provide for the continuation of the County's Tuberculosis Control Program for the period July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2023, in the amount of $12,000 annually.
