Request/Subject

Resolution No. 18-07-04 to name a previously unnamed section of road in Tonto Basin as W. Rio Vista.

Background Information

County residents Dwayne Woodard and Kenneth Callaway submitted a petition to the Gila County Rural Addressing Department in June 2017, requesting to name an unnamed road that passes through or along 4 parcels of land. The required 75% of the property owners signed the petition proposing to name this road W. Rio Vista. A public notice was sent out notifying property owners of the proposed name change along with the June 26, 2018, deadline to submit alternate petitions. As of June 27, 2018, no alternate petitions were filed.

Evaluation

This unnamed section of road branches west off of N. Santo Sandia Ln.

The section is identified as Section 11 T6N R10E.

The County Addressing Analyst determined and appropriately mapped the roadway via GPS and aerial imagery techniques.

Conclusion

Per the Gila County Street Naming and Property Numbering Ordinance, a public notice was mailed to the affected property owners on June 11, 2018. A copy of the public notice is attached.

Recommendation

The Public Works Division Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt Resolution No. 18-07-04 naming a previously unnamed section of road in Tonto Basin as W. Rio Vista.

Suggested Motion

Convene a public hearing to hear from property owners who live along an unnamed section of road in Tonto Basin proposed to be named W. Rio Vista; and adopt Resolution No. 18-07-04 to name the subject section of road in Tonto Basin as W. Rio Vista. (Steve Sanders)
