Amendment No. 1 to  Contract No. 100616-Pharmacy for Gila County Detention Medical
Background Information
At the February 7, 2017, Board of Supervisors' Regular Meeting, the Board authorized the advertisement of Request for Proposals (RFP) No. 100616-Pharmacy for Gila County Detention Medical.  The RFP was advertised in the February 15, 2017, and February 22, 2017, additions of the Arizona Silver Belt. Responses received to RFP No. 100617 were opened in a public setting.  On May 9, 2017, the Board of Supervisors awarded a contract to the lowest, most responsible and qualified bidder which was Westwood Pharmacy. The contract annual amount was for $75,000.

The Gila County Sheriff's Office medical unit provides medical services for those individuals incarcerated in Gila County at the Globe and Payson facilities. The medical units are comprised of a Physician, Physician's Assistant, two (2) Registered Nurses and three (3) Medical Assistants. When needed, and at the direction of the licensed Physician, the medical staff is required to provide prescription and over-the-counter medication.
Evaluation
The original contract  term for Contract No. 100616 was from May 9, 2017, to May 8, 2018; however, the contract may be renewed for two additional one-year periods.  If both parties agree, a contract amendment will be presented to the Board of Supervisors each year.

Amendment No. 1 will serve to exercise the option to renew the contract for one additional year from May 9, 2018, to May 8, 2019.
Conclusion
The Gila County Sheriff’s Office is pleased with the services provided by Westwood Pharmacy to provide prescription and over-the-counter medications and would like to extend the contract for another year.
Recommendation
It is the recommendation of the Chief Administrative Officer and Finance Department Director that the Board recommend renewing the contract with Westwood Pharmacy for one additional year, whereby Westwood Pharmacy provides prescription and over-the-counter medications.
Suggested Motion
Approval of Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 100616-Pharmacy Services for Gila County Detention Medical to extend the contract term with Westwood Pharmacy from May 9, 2018, to May 8, 2019, at a cost of $75,000.
