East Verde Park Fire District Governing Board Vacancy Appointment.

Background Information

A.R.S. 48-803 (B) provides that if a vacancy occurs on the district board other than from expiration of a term, the remaining board members shall fill the vacancy by the appointment of an interim member.

Evaluation

The East Verde Park Fire District governing board member, Polly Weaver, tendered her resignation notice effective February 23, 2015. The East Verde Park Fire District governing board appointed Lesley Reeves to serve out the remainder of the term which expires on December 31, 2016.

Conclusion

On May 18, 2015, the East Verde Park Fire District Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint Lesley Reeves to fulfill Polly Weaver's unexpired term of office which ends on December 31, 2016. Mrs. Weaver did not provide a resignation letter; however, a Board Member Update form is attached to this agenda item showing that the Board accepted the resignation.

Recommendation

The Elections Department recommends that the Board of Supervisors acknowledge the February 23, 2015, resignation of Polly Weaver and the appointment of Lesley Reeves on May 18, 2015, as the new governing board member for the East Verde Park Fire District, for the term of office that ends December 31, 2016.

Suggested Motion

Acknowledgment of Polly Weaver's resignation from the East Verde Park Fire District Board of Directors and the appointment of Lesley Reeves to fulfill Mrs. Weaver's unexpired term of office effective May 18, 2015, through December 31, 2016.
