Resolution No. 19-06-01 Declaration of Emergency- June 2019 Woodbury Fire

Background Information

The Woodbury Fire began in Gila County on June 8, 2019, which has created an emergency situation whereby on June 20, 2019, the Gila County Sheriff's Office announced an evacuation of the Roosevelt area to include Roosevelt Estates. The wildfire has endangered citizens' lives and well-being, and it has the potential to damage homes and property.

Evaluation

A.R.S. §26-311 outlines the requirements for the Board of Supervisors to declare an emergency.

Conclusion

Resolution No. 19-06-01 will prepare Gila County for recovery efforts from the fire and provide the legal avenue to request additional resources if needed.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Gila County Health and Emergency Management Department Director that the Board of Supervisors adopt Resolution No. 19-06-01.
