Request/Subject

Approval of IGA Contract No. ADHS18-201057 for a Tuberculosis Control Program with the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Background Information

The purpose of this funding is to continue to supplement Gila County Health Department's Tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control activities within Gila County by investigating all cases of active TB and provide completion of therapy follow-up calls and visits for latent TB infections and managing those infections. Approval of this proposed contract is necessary to continue providing the same services.

Evaluation

The Gila County Health Department is required to provide Tuberculosis (TB) testing, screening and treatment, along with outbreak investigations. The objective of the program is to enhance TB prevention and control activities in Gila County.

Conclusion

Approval of Intergovernmental Agreement Contract number ADHS18-201057 with Arizona Department of Health Services to allow the Gila County Public Health department to continue to enhance prevention activities, increase surveillance, and treat cases in Gila County to reduce transmission risks.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Director of the Gila County Division of Health and Emergency Management that the Board of Supervisor approve Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) Contract No. ADHS18-201057 from 7/1/2018 to 6/30/2023 for an amount of $12,000 annually.

Suggested Motion

Approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement (Contract No. ADHS18-201057) between Gila County and the Arizona Department of Health Services to provide for the continuation of the County's Tuberculosis Control Program for the period July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2023, in the amount of $12,000 annually.
