Gila County Fair and Racing Commission Resignations

Background Information

On April 18, 2017, the Board of Supervisors formally re-established the Gila County Fair and Racing Commission and appointed 7 Board members to bring this Commission into compliance with current Gila County rules and standards regarding Board-appointed commissions.

On February 25, 2021, William Byrne, Fair and Racing Commission Chairman, sent a letter to the Board of Supervisors informing the Board that all current 6 members of the Commission have resigned. There was one vacancy.

Evaluation

The following members of the Gila County Fair and Racing Commission have resigned: William A. Byrne, Christi Lavin, Melva Enders, Janet Cline, Floyd Livingood, and Andy Hetrick.

Conclusion

To keep current on all boards, commissions, and committees under the purview of the Board of Supervisors, it is important for the Board to acknowledge the resignations as presented. The members of this Commission have selflessly given their time and effort for many years to support the County fair and racing events at the Gila County Fairgrounds. The Board would like to publicly thank and present a recognition award to the Commission members.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors acknowledge the resignations of all members of the Gila County Fair and Racing Commission and present a recognition award to each member.
