Information
Request/Subject
Approval to purchase property at 106 W. White Wing Drive in the Sportsman Haven Subdivision in Roosevelt.
Background Information
The Sportsman Haven Subdivision is subject to street flooding during rain events. The area has poor to non-existent drainage. During storm events water ponds in streets and some adjacent lots. Recently a lot at the north end of the subdivision (drainage runs from south to north) became available for purchase. Purchasing this lot will allow the main road in the subdivision (Stagecoach Trail) to carry water via an inverted crown to a detention pond to be built on the property at 106 W. White Wing Dr. The water could then drain into a channel and then on into the adjacent dry wash.
Evaluation
Various alternatives have been considered and staff feels this is the most economical and practical solution. An appraisal has been completed on the property. The owners have agreed to sell for the appraised price.
Conclusion
Staff feels this is the most economical and practical solution to help reduce roadway flooding in the Sportsman Haven Subdivision.
Recommendation
It is the recommendation of the Public Works Director to purchase the property located at 106 W. White Wing Dr. for the appraised price of $78,000 and associated fees of $797.
Suggested Motion
Information/Discussion/Action to purchase the property located at 106 W. White Wing Dr. for the appraised price of $78,000 and associated fees of $797 for a total purchase price of $78,797.
