Resolution No. 19-05-04 in support of Capstone Mining Corporation's investments and efforts toward enhancement of our regional and state economy.

Background Information

On March 19, 2019, Timothy Ralston, Manager of Land, Permitting & Regulatory Affairs for Capstone Mining Corporation, made a presentation to the Board of Supervisors giving them an update of current activities and projects at their Pinto Valley Mining Operation.

Evaluation

The copper industry plays an important role in our state, and provides an invaluable contribution to the development and strengthening of our region’s and state’s economy. We appreciate mining’s individual and collective contributions to the economy, productive employment, creation of the support industries, and to the overall quality of life of each affected town, city, county, region and state over the last 100 years.

Conclusion

Capstone Mining Corp - Pinto Valley Operations is one of the largest private employers in Gila County. Pinto Valley's plans to further develop the copper deposit and continued operations will be a positive gain realized in further preservation of natural resources, land, and the inherently present flora and fauna for the enjoyment of present and future generations to come.

Recommendation

Staff recommends the adoption of Resolution No. 19-05-04 supporting Capstone Mining Corporation's investments and efforts toward enhancement of our regional and state economy.
