Request/Subject

Adopt Resolution No. 19-05-01 accepting a Quit Claim Deed (QCD) from Richard A. Caron and Judith B. Caron, husband and wife and Scott L. Buzan and Michelle C. Buzan, husband and wife, for that roadway shown on Record of Survey Map 855, Gila County Records for roadway purposes and establish the road as a Primitive Road.

Background Information

This road is known and has been known as Verde Glen Road, Forest Road 1190, and Forest Service Road 199. The road accesses an area north of Payson known as Verde Glen. On April 3, 2018 the Board adopted Resolution No. 18-04-03. The resolution accepted a grant of roadway easement from the Caron and Buzan families and established the road as a Primitive Road. The Grantors now wish to quit claim the roadway easement to the County. County staff supports the request and a QCD has been prepared for the Board’s consideration.

Evaluation

Accepting this QCD for roadway purposes will allow continued public access to this road. The road meets the requirements of a primitive road. It was opened prior to June 13, 1990 and was not constructed in accordance with county standards. The Primitive Road designation will remain.

Conclusion

Accepting a QCD for this road will ensure that it remains open to public travel.

Recommendation

The Gila County Public Works Director and the County Engineer recommend that the Board adopt Resolution No. 19-05-01 accepting a QCD for that roadway shown on Record of Survey Map No. 855 and confirming the road as a Primitive Road.
