Public sale of an alley situated between Lots 7-10, Block 17 and Lot 34, Block 20, Inspiration Townsite, Official Map No. 39, Gila County Records. Inspiration Townsite is in the Claypool area of the County.

Background Information

On December 4, 2018, during a regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors, the Board directed staff to begin the process to dispose of an unnecessary public alley shown on the map of Inspiration Townsite, Official Map No. 39. Staff began the necessary notifications and public postings of the Board’s decision.

Inspiration Townsite was recorded in 1914. Some of the roads and alleys in the subdivision have never been constructed or completed; many have been vacated in the past. This alley has never been built and adjacent alleys have been vacated in the past.

The petitioner, Phillis Blake, owns the surrounding property and has submitted a bid for the alley. The bid meets the minimum requirement established by the current Gila County policy on abandonment of roadways in Gila County.

Evaluation

Abandoning this alley situated between Lots 7-10, Block 17 and Lot 34, Block 20, Inspiration Townsite, Official Map No. 39, will not deny anyone access to their property.

Conclusion

It is the best interest of all involved to abandon the alley.

Recommendation

It is the recommendation of the Public Works Department Director that the Board of Supervisors accept a bid from Phillis Blake of $387 for the alley.

Information/Discussion/Action to accept a bid from Phillis Blake in the amount of $387 for that alley situated between Lots 7-10, Block 17 and Lot 34, Block 20, Inspiration Townsite, Official Map No.39, Gila County Records. (Steve Sanders)
